Summertime in York means walls to walk, festivals to enjoy, museums to explore and food to savour. It also means summer holiday season, and there’s plenty of fun activities to fill those long and light days with the family. The Great Yorkshire Fringe is just around the corner, kids can get crafty at York Minster, there’s interactive discovery at the new Viking: Rediscover the Legend exhibition at the Yorkshire Museum and so much more.
The Great Yorkshire Fringe
The city becomes a stage during the Great Yorkshire Fringe, as pop-up venues hosting the best in comedy, theatre and music are sprinkled across the city. This year you can expect the unexpected, with music, cabaret, magic and family entertainment in a variety of fun and peculiar venues. There’s gourmet street-food for when you’re peckish, plus craft beer and wine bars to add to the festival flavour.

Summer with a Splash at The Deep
Visit The Deep this summer (22 July to 3 September) as they get creative in celebration of Hull’s year as City of Culture. Make your way through prehistoric seas, past tropical lagoons, vast open oceans, down to the darkest depths, through the chilly Kingdom of ice and into the future. Then show off your creative skills in craft corner (from 11am each day). Hope to ‘sea’ you there!
