There are some great parks in York to explore. Check out Rowntrees Park which will take you down by the River Ouse, on route you will pass Bishopthorpe Road where there are some fabulous independent cafes and places for ice cream and there is also a cafe in the park. Also visit Homestead Park which is maintained by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, this is on the Bootham side of town so you may need to drive as its quite a long walk.
In the centre of town you can visit the Museum Gardens it’s a great place to picnic and is open from 10.30am to 6pm – Monday to Friday.
Rowntree Park is beautiful and is a just short walk from the City Centre along the river. The cafe overlooking the park and river is a great place for a cuppa, a bite to eat, and to relax.
